This guide describes how VSA customers using Kaseya Cloud Backup (KCB) can migrate to Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud integration with Kaseya VSA.
Migration Benefits
This migration is required for compatibility with Acronis Cyber Cloud Advanced licensing. This has several benefits for Kaseya Cloud Backup customers:
- You can access and manage the full Acronis Cyber Protect product from within VSA.
- You can apply and monitor plans that include all the protection features that Acronis offers from within VSA.
- New Acronis Cyber Cloud functionality is added to Advanced licensing only. Here are some examples:
- Direct backup to public cloud (Azure, Wasabi)
- One-click recovery
- Data Loss Prevention
Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud integration with Kaseya VSA provides for all major use cases that you currently use KCB for, including:
- Mapping of VSA Organizations to Acronis customer accounts.
- Manual and automated Acronis client installation and updates.
- Applying and revoking backup plans.
- Monitoring backup and protection status.
- One-click access to Acronis Cyber Cloud portal for recovery operations, configuration of backup plans, and advanced status reporting.
Existing backup plans will continue uninterrupted during this transition, and there are no changes to the Acronis Cyber Cloud functionality you currently use alongside KCB.
Limitation
Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud integration with Kaseya VSA does not support the following use cases:
- Mapping of VSA machine groups to Acronis customer accounts.
- Global mapping of an entire VSA instance to a single Acronis customer account.
To check if this will affect your migration, go to Cloud Backup > Configuration > Settings > Backup Group Mapping tab. If its set to Global or Machine Group, your configuration may not be supported yet. Please click here to request assistance from the Kaseya team.
Migration Overview
- Download the new integration module (Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud integration with Kaseya VSA) from Acronis Partner Portal and generate an installer token.
-
Install the plugin to your VSA instance using the Third Party integration framework.
- It can be used in parallel with KCB during the transition process.
- Map VSA Organizations to existing Acronis customer accounts within the new integration module.
Step 1 - download the Acronis plugin installer
To install the new integration, you must have access to the Acronis Partner Portal to download the Acronis Cyber Protect integration plugin for Kaseya VSA.
- Log into the Acronis Partner Portal using the Acronis Backup service account that you used to configure KCB.
- From the Integration Menu - search and select Kaseya VSA
- Click on Configure
- Follow on-screen instructions to generate token (save it somewhere, you will need it later) and download the installer.
Step 2 - Install the plugin to VSA
- Login to VSA as a Master or System role user.
- (On-Premises customers only) go to System > Server Management > Configure page and ensure that Enable Third Party App Installation Globally is checked.
- Go to System > Server Management > License Manager > Third Party tab, click Install
- Click Browse File to select the downloaded Acronis plugin (Acronis.vsaz)
- Complete the Install Application wizard. When prompted for Installation Token, enter the token that you generated from Acronis Partner Portal in an earlier step.
- Click Finish to finalize the installation. The screen should refresh and you will have the new Acronis module in the left navigation menu.
- Select the newly installed Acronis module and click Allow when prompted.
Step 3 - Map your VSA organizations to Acronis customer accounts
Note: In KCB, you can create Acronis Customer accounts from VSA Organizations or top-level machine groups. If you were using organization, you can recreate the mappings in the new integration (it is a one-time manual step for each existing organization). Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud integration with Kaseya VSA does not currently support mapping by machine group.
- in VSA, go to Acronis > Overview > Organizations, click Add organization and step through the wizard.
- Integration Method - choose Link to an existing Acronis Cyber Cloud Customer
- Mapping - for each VSA Organization, select the Acronis Customer account it should be mapped to. You can use the search filter to locate a specific organization.
- Create administrator by adding an Administrator email.
- Summary - select required settings and click Next to finalize the mappings.
You can now monitor and manage your existing backup plans using the new integration.
