Question
How can I reduce or optimize the amount of Acronis Cloud storage consumed by Kaseya Cloud Backup?
Answer
Review backup retention settings
Reducing the backup retention period for daily, weekly and monthly backups will reduce the storage consumed by each endpoint:
- in VSA, go to Cloud Backup > Configuration > Profiles
- edit your profile and adjust the retention periods to align with your organization's data recovery requirements
- after saving the profile, the new settings will be applied from the next time each assigned machine runs a backup. If you reduced them, older backups will automatically be removed from storage.
Check for stored backups you no longer require
You can use the Acronis Cloud console to check storage consumed by each of your clients, and reclaim space by removing stored backups you no longer need. For example, there may be backups associated with organizations or endpoints you no longer manage.
- log into Acronis Cloud console (Cyber Protect Cloud) using the Acronis Backup Service account (the Acronis account associated with the Cloud Backup integration).
- select CLIENTS from the left navigation menu. This page shows the amount of cloud storage consumed by each Acronis client account (which are mapped to VSA organizations or groups). You may sort by Cloud Storage amount to identify those which are consuming the most.
- click on the hyper-linked client name, then click the Manage service button.
- go to the BACKUP STORAGE menu, and select the Cloud storage location. Backups will be listed for each stored machine/backup plan. You can sort by size or use the search filter to locate backups by machine/plan name or a date range. In the example shown below, the filter is set to show workloads with a last backup before January 1st, 2023.
- use the Delete button to delete all backups associated with the selected workload, or Show Backups to select and delete a specific backup, and follow on-screen instructions. Please refer to Acronis Cyber Protect documentation for further details.
