Question
Why is one or more of my Kaseya Agents not visible and seems to have disappeared?
Answer
The agent machine(s) has not actually disappeared, but instead is being renamed based on the naming policy set for the group ID in System > Machine Groups > Naming Policy within the Kaseya Server VSA Web Interface. The specific value that does this is the setting enabled as 'Force machine ID to always be computer name' within the Naming Policy function list section. See the following screenshot detailing this setting graphically:
If it is preferred to not have this happen, simple disable the 'Force machine ID to always be computer name' setting for the particular group(s) and rename the renamed machines back to the desired agent names.
If it is preferred to keep the 'Force machine ID to always be computer name' setting, simply rename the affected agent machines computer names to the original/desired name and do not have these affected computer names renamed from then on.
Note: Visit the KServer log within the Kaseya VSA Web Interface (System > Server Management > Configure > KServer Log) and search for the last known agent machine ID name prior the "disappearance" agent machine name rename occurring. Here is an example of what a related log entry looks like when the search is performed.: "Tue Mar 31 09:45:57 2009: Renamed 'machine.group' as 'machine1.group' to enforce name policy for the group ID group."
