How do I change the agent check-in port for an existing Kaseya server, ensuring that I do not lose control of any agents?

Question

How do I change the agent check-in port for an existing Kaseya server, ensuring that I do not lose control of any agents?

Answer

Before changing the port the Kserver listens on, it is necessary to tell all the agents about the new port so they are still able to check in when the server is changed. Use this process to ensure a seamless change: -

  1. Go to Agent tab > Check-in Control, select all machines and change the secondary port (ensuring that the primary and secondary Kserver addresses, and primary port, are correct)
  2. Wait for the new secondary port to be applied on ALL machines. The details will display in red when pending, and change to black when applied. NOTE - if any agents are offline, the change will not be applied until the next check-in.
  3. Go to System tab > Configure and change "Specify port Agents check into Server with" to the new port, then click Change Port - please note this will cause the Kserver to restart, and you will be warned if any agents don't have the new port configured in Check-in Control
  4. Ensure that agents are checking in OK, then go to Check-in Control and change the primary port to the new port (please note, certain functions such as Remote Control do not work when the agent is checking in on the secondary Kserver / port)
