How do I Install/Configure a Traverse Linux DGE or DGEx?

Question: How do I install a Traverse Linux DGE or DGEx?

Answer: Read important notes below:

  • Unlike Windows, Linux does not have a DGEx installer; instead the Linux DGE installer is used to upgrade or install a Linux DGEx.
  • If it is a DGEx and not a DGE, you may optionally stop the "performance and event database" component.
  • For upgrading a Linux DGEx, you would apply the same installation steps with a Linux DGE installer.

Steps to install/configure: Please see the Installing Traverse on UNIX Platforms section of the user guide for preliminary installation steps.

  • After you execute the "install.sh" file on the server you will need to provide the following:
    • End User License Agreement.
    • Do you wish to continue with installation?
    • Enter the top level directory.
  • After this section of the install you will be prompted with Component Selection:

Note: The [] brackets are for default selections, please either choose y/n.

  • In this section please select the same options for both a DGE/DGEx:
    • Will this server run the provisioning data: n
    • Will this server run the web application: n
    • Will this server run the monitors: y
    • What do you want to name this DGE(x)? (applies to both)

    • Will this server run in the DGE extension role? (y for DGEx, n for DGE)

After executing and completing the install, the configuration in the Traverse Web Application determines whether the install will act as DGE or DGEx:

To add it as a DGE:

  • Open the Web Application and add it as a DGE under 'Superuser > DGE MGMT'. It will perform as a DGE.

To add it as DGEx:

  • Open the Web Application and add it as a DGE Extension under 'Superuser > DGE MGMT'. It will perform as a DGE Extension rather than a full DGE.

Applies to: Linux
