Some DGE(x) services do not start up after an upgrade - Error 1053

Problem: After upgrading a DGE/DGEx, the 'File Synchronization Client', 'Data Gathering Engine' and 'Message Handler' services do not start. Trying to start the services via services.msc results in the below error. asadas

"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.


Cause: The server does not have all the latest Windows Updates installed which is preventing the services from starting up.


Solution: Fully patch the server with the latest Windows updates.

(From a previous Incident on Server 2003, this was resolved once Service Pack 1 was installed and the server was restarted)
