Troubleshooting: Testing connectivity to 7651

QUESTION:

Do I have connectivity to the BVE on port 7651?

SOLUTION:

  • With a client such as putty, connect to the BVE on port 7651. Wait for a couple minutes. If you are greeted with a timeout message as below, it implies the DGEX does not have connectivity to the BVE

No timeout message indicates successful connectivity. Note there is no banner presented - so there may not be any message on the terminal.

  •  telnet tool can be used to perform the same. Assuming the BVE server ip is 10.20.70.41, one can run the following command from the DGEx command line:

[root@dgex ~]# telnet 10.20.70.41 7651
Trying 10.20.70.41...
Connected to 10.20.70.41.
Escape character is '^]'.
