Network Discovery excludes some tests

QUESTION:

Why Network Discovery process excludes some tests?

RESOLUTION:

In order to limit the number of tests automatically provisioned on a device created by Network Discovery, CSV import or by the bulk provisioning tool;  Traverse employs an exclusion list of test categories composed of the contents of:

TRAVERSE_HOME\etc\typedef\network.exclude - the default installed list
TRAVERSE_HOME\plugin\monitors\network.exclude - a site specific list of additional categories not already included in the default installed list

where 'TRAVERSE_HOME' is the installation folder for Traverse.

By default, at the time this article was last edited, network.exclude contains the following test categories or type/sub types to be ignored during network discovery:

snmp/bandwidth
snmp/interface_pkt_rate
snmp/interface_discards
snmp/interface_errs
