VNC Error "Failed to open the local file: C:\users\xxxx\appdata\local\temp\low\libkacm.dgst "


When using VNC to remote control any machine, using IE11, I get the following errors

"Failed to open the local file: C:\users\xxxx\appdata\local\temp\low\libkacm.dgst"


"Failed to open the local file: C:\users\xxxx\appdata\local\temp\low\libkacm.dll"

where xxxx=local user



This error is caused by UAC being enabled on the admin machine

If user account controls (UAC) is enabled on the admin machine you will need to do one of the following:

  • Run IE as administrator
  • Disable UAC

Note: Disabling UAC requires a reboot before it takes effect
