Now that you have added an M365 organization's email domain in Graphus, the next step is to activate it.
This guide includes the requirements for activating an M365 organization’s email domain and describes how activation works. In addition, specific activation steps are provided.
IMPORTANT: Before continuing with this guide, ensure that you entered the organization’s Tenant ID (from Microsoft Entra ID) into the Azure AD Tenant ID field when you added the organization to Graphus. The organization cannot be activated if the Azure AD Tenant ID field is empty or incorrect.
The Activation process
The activation process consists of two steps:
- The admin starts the Graphus M365 Activation Wizard by clicking the organization’s Activate link in the Organizations table.
The wizard will automatically collect all needed permissions and certificates with 1-2 minutes. - The Graphus AI will analyze historic email data and learn all the specifics of the email domain. This process may take up to 24-48 hours.
You can check the progress in the Activation Progress modal (displayed via the View Progress link - see the procedure To activate an organization below).
The modal identifies the status of each step in the activation process. When a step starts, the step icon changes from gray to green, as shown in the step Identify organization members. When the step is finished processing, the step icon displays with a check mark.
The six steps in the activation process are described below:
- Identify organization members: Identifies all members (inboxes) of the organization's email domain that will be protected by Graphus.
- License verification: Verifies that each organization member has a Graphus license.
- Identify contacts: Retrieves all senders that have sent emails to this protected domain.
- Create TrustGraph: Analyzes historic email data to learn the unique communication patterns within the email environment. Creates a communication fingerprint (TrustGraph) that Graphus uses to detect and quarantine malicious emails.
- Connect to inboxes: Graphus establishes the connection to user inboxes which will be needed to quarantine messages and to apply warning banners.
- Create monitoring: Sets up the internal Graphus infrastructure monitoring for the email domain.
Activation Failed
If the activation fails during any step in the process, a warning banner will be displayed on the Organizations page. Graphus will try to resolve the issue by restarting the activation process or automatically involve a DevOps engineer. If your assistance is needed, a team member will contact you from a @graphus.ai email address.
Also, Activation Failed will be displayed in the Status field. You can click View Progress to see which step failed. The step icon and its name will appear in red.
To activate an organization:
- On the Organizations page, find the organization you want to activate.
- In the Action column, click Activate.
- You are prompted to log into your M365 Admin account.
- After logging in, the Permissions Requested modal is displayed. Click the Accept button.
- You are redirected back to the Organizations page. The Activate link is now inactive and the Status has changed to In Activation Queue. Your activation is now in a queue waiting for the Graphus AI to start analyzing your email domain.
- When the activation process starts, the Status changes to Activation in Progress and the View Progress link appears in the Action column.
You can click the View Progress link to display the Activation Progress modal.
