Unable to establish private Remote Control session OR 1-Click Access to Windows 10 machine

Problem

Unable to establish private Remote Control session or use 1-Click Access to Windows 10 machine.

Cause

Kaseya Remote Control requires a Windows Remote Desktop connection without Network Level Authentication (NLA). This requires changes to default security settings.

Resolution

1) Remote Desktop Settings in System Properties must be configured this waysystem_remote_settings.png

OR

the following GPO's are configured

- Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Security:
Require user authentication for remote connections by using Network Level Authentication
is set to "disabled"

- Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Connections:
Allow users to connect remotely by using Remote Desktop Services
is set to "enabled"

NOTE - if GPO's are either enabled or disabled, it will override the System Properties. If GPO's are set to "not configured", the System Properties will apply instead.

2) registry value "SecurityLayer" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\ is set to 0 or 1 (1 is recommended as it will still allow NLA by other applications) - this is required regardless of how System Properties is set.
