Symptoms / Description

Not assigned a drive letter.

Cause

If you backup a LUN or SAN from a SAS connected directly to a Windows server and you get a successful backup, but cannot see any data for a drive.  Your LUN fails to mount if you have set as a mount point within a drive.

Resolution / Workaround / Execution Process

The resolution is to mount assign the LUN a drive letter.

  1. Go to compmgmt.msc
  2. Navigate to “Disk Management”
  3. Go through the volumes that are available assign a drive letter to your DAS/LUN/SAS
