SUMMARY

Unitrends appliances may misidentify iSCSI LUNs as eSATA devices following backup copy target media scan.

ISSUE

Unitrends appliances deployed as installable software may misidentify iSCSI LUNs as eSATA devices following backup copy target media scan. This is a rare case that only occurs if the conditions below are met in the order presented:

  1. An eSATA Recovery Archive device is configured as a backup copy target.
  2. 52 or more iSCSi LUNs are added.
  3. The appliance is rebooted.
  4. A media scan is performed and the Recovery Archive device is reformatted.
Note: This issue only occurs if the iSCSI card appears before the eSATA card in the media scan sequence.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, upgrade your appliance to version 10.2.
