SUMMARY
How to resolve recovery issues related to appliance IP address changes.
ISSUE
If your environment goes offline for an extended period of time, DHCP-enabled appliances may receive new IP addresses from the DHCP server. This may disrupt your ability to recover your data until the actions below are taken.
RESOLUTION
- Solaris 8 and AIX agents must be updated with the new appliance IP in order to restore bare metal recovery functionality.
- If the appliance IP change occurs after boot media has been created for Windows image-based bare metal recovery, the boot media must be re-created with the new IP address before recovery can proceed.
- Following appliance IP change, new full backups are required for Oracle on Windows assets.
- If the appliance IP change occurs after boot media has been created for Linux, MAC or Solaris 9/10 bare metal recovery, the boot media must be updated with the new appliance IP address.
TASKS
To update Solaris 8 and AIX agents with the new appliance IP address
Open /usr/bp/bpinit/master.ini and modify the value Server1 (which can be found under Server Information) with the new appliance IP address.
