eSATA backup storage used in Linux Deployable UB (Metal) implementations may be inappropriately returned as a cold copy archive device

SUMMARY

In some cases where a customer has deployed UB to a Linux distribution (no longer a supported deployment option) and chose to use eSATA connected disk for backup storage.

ISSUE

Appliances that use eSATA mounted backup storage and were deployed as installable software (metal) may experience recovery failures. This issue typically occurs in appliances that are attempting to recover cold backup copies from SAS-connected tape drives.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, upgrade your on-metal Linux deployable UB appliance to version 10.1.
