VMware Instant Recovery Failing

SUMMARY

VMware Instant Recovery Failing, Error creating datastore

ISSUE

Purpose

To explain why VMware instant recovery fails.

Description

When performing the instant recovery you can see the DPU connect to the VMware and try to mount the NFS data store and then you see it fail on both the DPU and the VSphere client. Also in the vmware_instant_recovery_status.log you see Instant recovery failed: Failed to perform instant recovery: Error creating datastore:

Cause

This is caused because the DPU has the firewall turned on and you can check this by running “service iptables status” if it is running it will give you the output of the firewall status.

Resolution

You need to turn off the firewall by running “service iptables stop” on the DPU.
