iSeries: Restore Succeeds but RSTCFG Fails
ISSUE
Purpose
To explain why you may see the RSTCFG command failed message in the iSeries restore log after a successful restore.
Description
After a successful restore you may notice the following in the restore log:
[HH:MM:SS] [T00] backupFTP[ftp.c,1827]: RSTCFG command failed 550 41 objects restored; 4 not restored; 13 excluded..
This error indicates that certain System Resource Management objects were not restored or excluded. This occurs when these objects are online. These objects include settings and descriptions for physical devices such as the IP and PCI bus address for a NIC or SCSI address and mount point for a hard disk. There are objects which cannot be restored by the nature of this restore method. This short message is treated as an acceptable failure and no further action is necessary.
