Kaseya VSA Planned Patch Updates

Overview

Kaseya has released several VSA patches to remediate functionality issues caused by the enhanced security measures put in place.  This article is intended to provide customers with insight into current known issues and fixes which are scheduled for upcoming patch releases.  We will continue to update this post as additional details become available.

Patch 9.5.7c

VSA SaaS – Released and Deployed on July 26th

VSA On-Premises – Released to customers on July 28th

This patch resolved issues associated with KAV/KAM, AD logins, Executive Reports, System Imports, TAP Modules (BitDefender, Spanning, etc…), BUDR, Agent Procedure Signing, new API calls and provides other fixes and enhancements.  The full release notes are available at: https://helpdesk.kaseya.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4404472290705

Patch 9.5.7d

VSA SaaS – Planned for Release on August 6th and 7th

VSA On-Premises – Planned for Release on August 9th

*Note - The Software Management and User Portal functionality will be included in the release notes on August 6th based on the results of testing.  The current 9.5.7d release notes are available at: https://helpdesk.kaseya.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4404877450513

Agent Downloads – The agent download page was removed as part of the enhanced security measures.  This patch will introduce a secure agent download page that can be made publicly accessible.  As a workaround, until 9.5.7d is released, customers can download agents manually and post agents to a file-sharing site.  Please refer to the workaround documented at: https://helpdesk.kaseya.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4404423052177 or a video walkthrough of the workaround at: https://kaseyauniversity.wistia.com/medias/we7d8kupd0

Non-Kaseya API Integrations - Some 3rd party integrations such as MSPBuilder may make use of certain API calls that were disabled as part of the enhanced security measures.  9.5.7d will enable new APIs to accomplish similar functionality.  3rd Party vendors will need to implement the new functionality in their products once 9.5.7d is released.

Agent Procedures - Some characters in Agent Procedures may cause failures in execution.  9.5.7d corrects this issue.

The following two features are planned for 9.5.7d, but are currently in testing.  We will make an update on August 6th if there are issues that would prevent them from being released on 9.5.7d.

Software Management - When using Software Management customers may receive a message stating: "Failed to install after two attempts."  This is due to the Microsoft SSU (System Stack Update) not being correctly applied by the patching engine.  9.5.7d will automatically deploy this SSU via an update to the agent.  As a workaround, customers can follow the instructions at https://helpdesk.kaseya.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360019911337 and leverage an agent procedure to update the Microsoft SSU.

User Portal – The ability to click the agent icon on an end-user machine and launch the user portal was removed as part of the enhanced security measures.  9.5.7e will enable this functionality and will allow end-users to enter tickets that flow to Kaseya VSA Service Desk or to Kaseya Next Gen Ticketing (derived from Kaseya BMS).

Other Updates

Classic Ticketing, Service Billing & Time Tracking  – Customers making use of this functionality have been upgraded to Kaseya Next Gen Ticking (derived from Kaseya BMS) and can reach out to their account manager to schedule the migration of tickets from Classic Ticketing to VSA Next Gen Ticketing which will be performed by the Kaseya professional services team.  See the following article for the Quick Start Guide and video tutorials on Next Gen Ticketing: https://helpdesk.kaseya.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4403885776785

Classic Remote Control & RDP – The current (gen 3) Remote Control and Live Connect have materially more functionality and customers have been upgraded to this version.  A small subset of customers utilized RDP in the classic remote control.  This functionality will be added to the current Remote Control and Live Connect on a rolling basis and dates will be announced and updated as they become available.  This functionality includes local printer sharing, drag/drop file transfer, use of Windows macros, full-screen mode/high-resolution monitors, and multi-monitor support.

Fusion Mobile App – The VSA mobile app functionality was disabled as part of the enhanced security measures.  The new Android app was released on July 28th and the iOS will be released by August 6th.

Trend Micro Integration – Trend Micro has a legacy on-premises integration that is no longer supported.  This module was replaced with a Kaseya TAP Module integration and should be used.  A post to the most recent Trend Micro TAP Module will be provided shortly.

EMM/MDM - Kaseya will be shipping a new MDM module in early 2022 which will be part of the uRMM product.  Existing MDM & EMM customers will be upgraded to that module at no-charge

KDPM - This functionality was primarily used to migrate Windows XP users to Windows 7.  As both operating systems are no longer supported and this is not relevant in the Windows 10 environment, the functionality was removed.
