SNMP trap notifications for backup failures may fail to generate

SUMMARY

SNMP trap notifications for backup failures may fail to generate.

ISSUE

SNMP trap notifications for backup failures may fail to generate for appliances that are on isolated networks or that are prevented from sending SNMP traps to notifications.unitrends.com.

This only impacts SNMP trap monitoring, email alerts and UI alerts on backup failure should be generated normally.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, all that is typically required to resolve is to upgrade your appliance to version 10.1.

If your appliance is able to reach the internet, for updates or replication to hot targets, you may still be blocking some notification ports. Please reference our required ports KB and ensure all listed ports and addresses can be reached by your appliance.

If your appliance is on an isolated network, or SNMP cannot be opened in your firewall, after upgrade to release 10.1 notifications for backup failures over SNMP may still fail to process in rare cases.  Running the following command may further resolve an additional case:

bputil -p "Configuration Options" IsolatedNetwork 1 /usr/bp/bpinit/master.ini
