Backup of a Hyper-V cluster times out and fails.

SUMMARY

Backup of a Hyper-V cluster will time out and fail if the cluster is not recognized.

ISSUE

Description

Backup of a Hyper-V cluster times out and fails.

Resolution

One possible reason for this failure is the name of the cluster is not recognized.

To protect a Hyper-V cluster, you must add as clients each node and the cluster itself to the Unitrends appliance. (For instructions on adding a client, see To add a client to the Unitrends appliance.)

The Unitrends appliance must be able to resolve the name and IP address of every node in a Hyper-V cluster. When adding a cluster node to a Unitrends appliance, you must enter the correct IP address and the exact name of the node. If you enter an incorrect IP address or a name that does not exactly match the name of the node, backups will fail because the appliance will be unable to determine the owner of the VMs in the cluster configuration. Be sure to enter the correct hostname and IP address for every node in the cluster.
