Problem :

Kaseya Webroot plugin Installer Fails with error 0X80070643

Impact :

When we run the Kaseya Webroot plugin Installer on the Kaseya server it doesn't completely finish the installation rather it fails with this error 0X80070643 as soon as we ran.

Root Cause :

AVG experienced a false positive detection which removed the critical Windows Installer file

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\rundll32.exe (64-bit systems) or C:\Windows\System32\rundll.exe

which permanently breaks MSI installation.

If the file is not caught and restored from the AVG quarantine within 30 days, the file is lost and will need to be restored manually.

Solution :

Please make sure to check whether you have AVG installed on the Kaseya server.

If so, then please please make sure to check whether you have this rundll32.exe under any of these below folders.

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\rundll32.exe (64-bit systems)

or C:\Windows\System32\rundll.exe

If they don't exist then rundll32.exe must be restored to these folders to successfully complete the installation.

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\rundll32.exe or C:\Windows\System32\rundll.exe

This can be accomplished by copying the file from another Windows server of the same version or by extracting it from installation media.

Once those files are copied over then run the Kaseya Webroot Plugin Installer on the Kaseya server and it should resolve the issue.
