Register the Backup Appliance using the curl command (v.10.5.5 and prior)

  1. Use an SSH client such as  PuTTY to access the Unitrends system at the command line level.  Note:  Ensure you have the OS password to access the Unitrends system’s command line.  The OS  password may differ from the password used to access the User Interface.
  2. Paste the curl command which was copied from the Backup Portal.Appliance_-_curl_command.jpg
  3. Navigate back to the Backup Portal and confirm that the new Unitrends Appliance is now available in the Backup Portal.

***If the Unitrends Backup Portal agent installation fails, confirm that the Unitrends appliance is allowed unfiltered outgoing communication through the firewall. SSL traffic filters or deep packet inspection (DPI) traffic filters must be disabled for tcp port 443 to ensure proper communication from the Unitrends appliance to the Backup Portal during the registration process.***
