What do I do if access is denied because of my username or password?

SUMMARY

This article explains what to do if you cannot log in to the appliance Administrator Interface or OS.

ISSUE

This article explains issues related to the Unitrends appliance and what to do if you cannot log in to the Administrator Interface or the appliance OS via command line. The appliance has two separate logins: one for the Administrator Interface and one for the operating system (command line). Both logins by default are username root and password unitrends1.

Warning: Unitrends highly recommends against using any form of the string 'unitrend' in any password. Any password containing this phrase, in either the UI or OS, should be changed immediately. See also Password Reset: How to reset the root password of the Web Administrative Interface on your Unitrends system.

RESOLUTION

If you do not know your OS login and need to login to the OS to access the command line, see How to Change your OS Root Password.
