SUMMARY

SharePoint 2007/2010/2013/2016 backups fail when when user account has not been granted the requested logon type.

ISSUE

SharePoint 2007/2010/2013/2016 backup failed when user account has not been granted the requested logon type.

SharePoint backup is failing with summary output as follow:

Application: SharePoint
Operation: SharePoint Full
Reference Log: /usr/bp/logs.dir/rae-109.log
Command Failed: Verifying SharePoint User Credentials

User account credentials are not valid (SQLTEST\user1):
   - Returned HRESULT = 0x80070569
   - Error text: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.

RESOLUTION

Add SharePoint backup account to local administrators group on the client:

Control Panel->User Accounts->Advanced->Advanced user management interface;

or type from administrator command line interface ‘lusrmgr’;

 then open Groups->Administrators, and add domain user to the ‘Administrators’ group

CAUSE

SharePoint account name and password were set up correctly, however error message indicate that user has not been granted the requested logon type at the SharePoint backup client.
