SUMMARY

This article explains how to resolve an error when booting a (new) VMware UEB deployment fails with a Kernel Panic and a VMware popup stating that the VM OS has disabled the CPU

ISSUE

Purpose

Resolving error when booting a (new) VMware UEB deployment fails with a Kernel Panic and a VMware popup stating that the VM OS has disabled the CPU

Description

When booting up a UEB either new or otherwise (I have not verified the existing UEB having this issue, but I do not see why it would not)  it fails with a Kernel panic and a popup message from VMware stating that the Guest OS has Disabled the CPU.

Cause

You have attached VMDK files from a previous Unitrends deployment

Resolution

Delete the VMs on disk, including the UEB deployment, redeploy the UEB and create new backup data VMDKs
