ISSUE

Purpose

To re-install MOF for SQL Server.

Description

SQL Server is not showing up as an application in the user interface.

Cause

WMI is not interfacing with SQL Server.

Resolution

mofcomp "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\NUMBER\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"

***NOTE****

The value of NUMBER depends on the version of SQL Server.
 

Third-Party SourcesAfter you run the Mofcomp tool, restart the WMI service for the changes to take effect. The service name is Windows management Instrumentation.

The SQL application must have SP2 installed, often it's installed but if you check the version numbers they will not match SQL SP2, please have the customer install SP2 again.
