Creating an integrator resource in Autotask

Follow these instructions to create a separate resource (user account) for the integration with IT Glue.


  1. Hover your mouse over the Autotask icon (top left corner) to access the main menu. Navigate to Admin > Resources (Users).


  2. Click the drop-down arrow beside + New and select New API User.


  3. In the Add API User window, enter/select the following:
    1. General section:
      1. First and last name
      2. Email address
      3. Security Level - Select API User (system) in the drop-down menu.
        Note: When this option is selected, use the username created in this Security Level when entering the API Credentials in IT Glue. Email from the General tab will not be accepted.
      4. Username (key) - Enter a key of your choice or click Generate Key.
      5. Password (secret) - Enter a password of your choice or click Generate Secret.
        Important. Store your API credentials - your username (key) and password (secret) - in a secure location. You will need them again to integrate IT Glue with Autotask.
    2. API Tracking Identifier section:
      1. Integration Vendor - Select ITG - Documentation Management in the drop-down menu.


  4. Click Save & Close at the top of the window.
  5. Access the main menu and navigate to Admin > Feature & Settings > Resources/Users (HR). In the Security sub-section, click Protected Data Permission.


  6. Check the View Protected Data box for the integrator role and then click Save.


You now have an integrator resource for IT Glue.
