When you set up AuthAnvil Two Factor Auth, one of the things that the installer asks you to do is choose a Master Admin Password. In v4.5 and later this password is used to protect your subscription settings and can help you regain access to the Manager if you ever find yourself locked out with no admins.
To gain access to the system without a token, we’ve introduced a new tool in AuthAnvil v4 called the AuthAnvil Management console. (http://www.scorpionsoft.com/docs/authanvil/managementconsole/)
From the AuthAnvil server:
- Make sure that the DNS name in the URL that is defined for the admin web service in the AuthAnvilWebConfigEditor (see Appendix C of http://www.scorpionsoft.com/docs/authanvil/install-guide) resolves to an IP address that is assigned directly to the server.
- Start Powershell (make sure that you have PowerShell 2.0 installed) and run the script at c:\ProgramFiles\Scorpion Software\AuthAnvil\AuthAnvilTools\AuthAnvilManagementConsole.ps1. You’ll need to set the PowerShell execution policy to unrestricted if you haven’t already.
- Log into your site as a master admin, using your master admin password when it asks, and choose option 2 – Manage users.
- Type in the username, then on the next screen, re-enable his token. You can re-assign tokens and create users as required.
