Issue
When I open up the AuthAnvil Manager, the login page displays the error, “Unable to process logon request. Failed to load the AuthAnvil Admin web service” and I am unable to log in.
Cause
The Admin web service URL is unreachable or the communication is insecure. This is caused by one of the following:
-
Admin Web Service URL is not resolvable
-
SSL certificate is not trusted
-
The Admin Web Service URL resolves to an external IP rather than the local IP and a firewall or proxy rule prevents direct communication.
Resolution
Open up the Web Config Editor (C:\Program Files\Scorpion Software\AuthAnvil\AuthAnvilTools\AAWebConfigEditor.exe) and copy the Admin URL into a browser window to see if it can be resolved. If it cannot be reached, double-check the spelling and make sure you are using the proper URL prefix (HTTP or HTTPS).
If you are using HTTPS communication, make sure that you have a valid certificate in place that matches the domain name in the Admin URL. If the certificate is mismatched or has expired, SSL communication won't be trusted and there won't be a connection made to the Admin Web Service URL.
If the domain is being resolved to the external IP, you can manually add an entry into your hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts) and map the DNS name of your server to resolve to the local IP.
Note: This same problem often applies to both the SAS and Admin URLs in the Web Config Editor. Make sure both are properly formatted URLs that are able to be reached.
Affects
AuthAnvil 4.0 and later.
