Configure AuthAnvil Two Factor Auth Integration in ConnectWise 2010 and Later

Important

If you are running AuthAnvil Two Factor Auth v5.0 or later with ConnectWise 2013 or older, you can not use ConnectWise integration until you install the Legacy SAS Script on your AuthAnvil web server. 

Requirements

• ConnectWise v2010.2.7908 or later installed and configured
• A working AuthAnvil Two Factor Auth Server that has already been configured as per the AuthAnvil Two Factor Auth Installation Guide.
  
  

Introduction

ConnectWise offers a powerful and flexible Professional Service Automation (PSA) system. With the use of AuthAnvil Two Factor Auth, it is possible to add strong authentication to and provide identity assurance for this system.

The rest of this document will step through the process to accomplish the implementation and configuration of AuthAnvil support on a system running ConnectWise v2010.2.7908 or later. This document assumes that the AuthAnvil Two Factor Auth Server has already been configured as per the AuthAnvil Two Factor Auth Installation Guide.

Configuring ConnectWise 2010 and later to support AuthAnvil Two Factor Auth Authentication

Step 1 – Configure the AuthAnvil Setup Table

1. Log into ConnectWise.
2. Expand the Setup tab.
3. Open Setup Tables.
4. Enter “AuthAnvil” into the Table field and click search. This will return the AuthAnvil Setup Table.
5. Open the AuthAnvil Setup Table.
6. Select either http or https from the dropdown. NOTE: HTTP is an insecure protocol and is not recommended for a production environment.
7. Enter your AuthAnvil SAS URL.
   
   Note: In ConnectWise 2014.2 and later you must use the full URL (YourDomain.com/AuthAnvil/SAS.asmx). Previous versions allowed you to simply use the domain name (YourDomain.com) and it would add the service path automatically.
8. Enter your AuthAnvil Site ID into the SiteID field.
9. Click Save.
10. Click the Test Connection button and verify that the connection is successful.
    
    

If you have not set the Base URL correctly you might see the following.

Step 2 - Assign members to use AuthAnvil for Two-Factor Authentication

1. Log into ConnectWise.
2. Expand the Setup tab.
3. Open Members.
4. Browse to a member that you would like to have use AuthAnvil authentication for ConnectWise login.
5. Make sure the member ID in ConnectWise matches the AuthAnvil username.
6. Scroll to the bottom of the member screen and select AuthAnvil from the Service drop down.
   
   
7. Click Save.
8. Repeat steps 3 – 7 for every member who needs to use AuthAnvil authentication.

Step 3 – Log into ConnectWise using an AuthAnvil-protected user

1. Log into ConnectWise using the regular method. After you enter your username and password, you will be presented with the following screen:
   
2. Enter your AuthAnvil PIN in the PIN field.
3. Enter the next one-time password generated by your token in the Token field.
4. Click Login.
