Using special characters in an XML import file

When creating an XML import file you need to modify how special characters such as "&,-+><" are entered. To allow those characters to be used we need to use the Character entities.

Here is an example of some common Character entities

Punctuation / Symbols HTML Entity (case sensitive) name or meaning
– en dash
— em dash
¡ ¡ inverted exclamation
" " quotation mark
“ left double curly quote

’ right single curly quote
& & ampersand
÷ ÷ divide
> > greater than
< < less than
