Where can I download SQL Express from?

Depending on the version and type of SQL required, the downloads are available in different places:

1. SQL 2005 Express: SQL Express 2005 with SP3 can be downloaded from: http://www.microsoft.com/Sqlserver/2005/en/us/express-down.aspx
   Note: Both 32 and 64 bit versions of SQL Server 2005 Express are available.
   
   
2. SQL 2008 Express: SQL 2008 Express with SP1 can be downloaded from: http://blogs.msdn.com/sqlexpress/archive/2009/06/15/installing-sql-server-2008-guidance.aspx

We recommend using the stand-alone installers for SQL Server Express and SQL Managment Studio as they can be installed as required.
Note: SQL Managment Studio 2008 will work with either SQL 2005 or SQL 2008.
