Best Practices for Virtualizing AuthAnvil Protected Servers with Zenith BDR

In situations where Active Directory or networking may not be up, and grouped users are being used or cached credentials are otherwise unfeasible, we recommend that you configure the agents deployed on the servers with an AuthAnvil Override Password.

This password is configured on a per machine basis and is stored locally on the machine, allowing you to override the AuthAnvil login without requiring network connectivity. This means that you can assign the same override password to every machine, different override passwords to every machine, or anywhere in-between. The override password can be easily changed, meaning that if you have to give it out, it can be changed afterwards.
