What is the best practice for migrating AuthAnvil to a new server?

We recommend that you always first back-up each product

How do I back up the AuthAnvil Two Factor Auth Database? Click here

How can I backup AuthAnvil Single Sign-On? Click Here

How do I backup or restore my AuthAnvil Password Server? Click here

Once the backups are completed copy the three backup files to the new server.

Next step is to prepare the new server for AuthAnvil

See this article for the prerequisites System Requirements.

Installation on new Server

  1. AuthAnvil 2FA Installation Guide
Note: As of 2FA v5.5 the SSO install is handled automatically by the 2FA installer. There is no longer a need to run a separate installer for SSO.
  2. AuthAnvil Password Server Installation Guide

Note: When installing the new versions please select Install with Backup (Using the backup files previously copied).

Note: You will need to manually restore SSO following this guide.

Note: If you are using the same FQDN there is no need to change any Endpoints. However, if you are using a NEW SSL Certificate please check this article out on how to update the FQDN.

Note: We suggest setting up a local IP Host file entry on the new server until you are ready to update your DNS settings. This will ensure you can authenticate on the new server for testing.
