BMS QuickBooks | Sync fails for retainers

Problem: Exporting invoice to QuickBooks fails with the below error:

"Failed to Add Line Item (Retainer By Hours) - Missing Income Account Reference - Check your Billing Configuration."

Cause: The error is seen when the "Retainer By Hour" Contract does not have a referenced Income Account.

Resolution: Follow these steps to get it resolved:

  • Open up BMS
  • Navigate to Finance > Contracts
  • Open the Contract and select the Tax Settings tab
  • Reference the Income Account for the retainer on the contract level 
  • Restart the sync tool:
