After you finish configuring your new server and get any certificates in place, there are only three things that you will have to do.
Note: If the server's DNS name has changed, you will also need to reflect this change in the SAS URL for all of the AuthAnvil agents, so make sure that you have the override passwords for the affected Windows Logon agents if you decide to change this after the server upgrade.
- Back up your existing AuthAnvil database, as described in the "Backing Up the AuthAnvil Database" section of the AuthAnvil Install Guide (http://www.scorpionsoft.com/docs/authanvil/installguide35/). If you use proxied users, you will first want to look at the blog post on backing up proxied users before the upgrade (http://blog.scorpionsoft.com/blog/2010/04/how-to-make-sure-that-your-proxied-users-get-backed-up-properly-for-the-authanvil-35-upgrade.html) This will generate an AuthAnvil BUP file for you, you'll need this on the new server.
- On the new AuthAnvil Server, run the AuthAnvil 3.5 installer and choose "New Install and Restore Data" you can then choose your database and your database backup (the BUP file generated in step 1). For the rest of the install, just follow the instructions in the AuthAnvil Install Guide (http://www.scorpionsoft.com/docs/authanvil/installguide35/).
- If the server name or location has changed, when you run the Configuration Wizard, you may need to change the Base URL or email server settings under the server settings page of the wizard. Other than that, all of your users and tokens will be in place, and the server will be ready for authentications.
