The normal AuthAnvil upgrade process involves running the installer and clicking "Upgrade". This works fine for Server 1 in a redundant configuration, but since all servers share the same database, the database is now in the state of the latest version of the software, while all other redundant web servers are still running the old version of the web software.
Upgrading a redundant AuthAnvil configuration requires a couple extra steps:
- Upgrade Server #1 following the Upgrade Guide for that version. This upgrades the web and SQL server components.
- Uninstall Server #2 to disconnect it from the upgraded SQL database.
- Reinstall Server #2 to a dummy SQL instance, following through the redundancy configuration for Server #2: http://www.scorpionsoft.com/support/redundancy
- Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for all following redundant web servers, disconnecting them from SQL and repeating the redundancy configuration.
It is not clear whether these steps will be publicly documented at this time, since it is a fairly technical process and can bring down redundancy configuration if handled incorrectly. At the moment this is just for internal documentation to instruct staff on the general redundant upgrade process.
