Alerts time is off by several hours

KB#:  KKB000643

QUESTION

I receive Kaseya alerts by email, but the time shown in the alert is off by several hours from the actual alert time.

Example

From: "saas3@kaseya.net" <saas3@kaseya.net>
Date: September 22, 2010 7:40:54 PM EDT
To: xxxx@aaaa.bbbb
Subject: server.base.acmeinc is offline

server.base.acmeinc has not checked in since 12:40:38 am 23-Sep-10

ANSWER

The alarm messages in the alerts are in KServer time by design. The SaaS Servers are located in UK and Ireland, so the timezone would be GMT (or GMT+1 depending on daylight savings). The alarm time is configurable via the System > User Preferences function and could be set to the user's browser time.

In the example above, there are 5 hours difference between the KServer (UTC) and the user (EST =UTC-5)

MORE INFORMATION

We designed it this way, for admins who monitor client's machines across multiple time zones, as they would want to see alarms in respect of their own timezone, calculating the difference themselves.
