Gathering Windows-based crash & memory dump information for Kaseya Support

NOTE: Please refer HERE for an updated guide on how to gather windows-based crash & memory dumps for Kaseya Support.

QUESTION: Kaseya Support has sent me some Windows file builds to use to properly capture crash & memory dump information to send to them. What are the steps to follow on this from here?

ANSWER:

A - Setting up crash dump capture rules for crashing processes

1 - Download & Install the Microsoft Debug Diag tool for your appropriate process crashing machine here (download and install the 32 or 64-bit version to match the machine's OS architecture type).

2 - After installing, launch the debug diag tool and follow these annotated screenshots step by step:

-------

3 - Once the crash dumps are gathered (only gather the files that have the Second Chance Exception words in them - do not send in the ones with First Chance Exceptions), upload them to a public location (such as all of them in a zip file in the \VSASharedFiles if open in your VSA) and send Kaseya Support the link/links to download them.

------

B - Manually Capturing a full user memory dump for deadlocked/hung processes

1 - Download & Install the Microsoft Debug Diag tool for your appropriate process crashing machine here  (download and install the 32 or 64-bit version to match the machine's OS architecture type).

2 - After installing, launch the debug diag tool and follow these annotated screenshots step by step:

-----

3 - Once the crash dumps are gathered, upload them to a public location (such as all of them in a zip file in the \VSASharedFiles if open in your VSA) and send Kaseya Support the link/links to download them.
