7.0 Install/Upgrade Checklist

Below you will find documentation for the upcoming version 7.0 on-premises release  as well as a pre- and post-install checklist.

Important Prerequisites

If you are running version 6.2 or earlier, you must contact support in order to upgrade to 7.0.

If you are running 6.3 and have Kaseya Network Discovery (KND) installed, you must contact support prior to upgrading to 7.0.  Upgrading KND directly to 7.0 may cause issues with Active Directory Logins and Network Discovery Setup.

Pre-Install Checklist

  1. Ensure the server meets system requirements, as above. Note: Windows Server 2003 and SQL 2005 and below are not supported.
  2. If you are running Windows Firewall on the System, make sure you have opened ports 5721, 80 and 443 inbound/outbound or you will not be able to reach the system remotely.
  3. Kaseya Server 7.0 requires Java SE 7, update 55 or later. You must manually download and install the Java package that is appropriate for the system hosting your Kaseya Server. If you are running a 64 bit machine, please make sure to download the  "Windows x64" product version on that page (note: if you simply visit java.com site and run the online browser install, it will likely only install the 32-bit version even if your operating system is 64-bit, please download the package and install from your desktop)

  4. Version 7.0 Introduces the Kaseya Application Firewall (KAF) and port change, please click here to learn more about KAF and 7.0 port changes.
  5. Using SSL (HTTPS) to secure web-based traffic is recommended.  To use SSL, the new Kaseya Application Firewall needs an SSL Certificate.  Please click here to learn more about configuration.
  6. If you are currently using SSL, you must import your existing certificate into the new Kaseya Application Firewall.  Click here to see how...
  7. The 7.0 Install will automatically configure IIS to listen on port 18081 to operate with the new Kaseya Application Firewall.  Please read the details at the bottom of this page - click here
  8. The 7.0 Install will automatically configure SSRS, if installed on the server, to listen on port 18086 to operate with the new Kaseya Application Firewall.  If you wish to manually configure it, please click here to read this page.
  9. If you are using an integrated 3rd party product, please click here to see the compatibility list prior to upgrading to 7.0.
  10.  Non-Internet Installs: If your Kaseya Server has no Internet access, please see this article.

  11. Disable or uninstall any anti-virus that may be running on the new server during the upgrade process. Anti-virus can interfere with the installation of Kaseya as it can block and/or lock files during the installation process. After the installation of Kaseya we recommend to set exclusions for the entire Kaseya directory (typically C:\Kaseya).
  12. As with any software upgrade we recommend having a full backup of your ksubscribers database as well as Kaseya directories. More details are available in the installation guide above.

Post-Install Checklist

  1. If you are running Windows Firewall on the System, make sure you have opened ports 5721, 80 and 443 inbound/outbound or you will not be able to reach the system remotely.
  2. Verify agents are checking in. See the following article for steps to troubleshoot - https://helpdesk.kaseya.com/entries/32389373-Troubleshooting-Kaseya-Agent-check-in-problems
  3. Verify you are able to update agents. (Note, no more than 100 agents should be updated at the same time. Please stagger accordingly to prevent performance issues.)
  4. Verify reports are working
  5. Verify the new Kaseya Remote Control works (note: you must update your agents so they have the new Kaseya Remote Control functionality after installing 7.0 as stated above)
