Data Backup agent "install failed"


  • after trying to install Data Backup to an agent using Data Backup > Configure > Install/Remove page, Installed column shows "Install failed"


  • there may be no Data Backup agent licenses available
  • to check this, go to System > Server Management > License Manager, click on Licenses tab, and check if "used" count is equal to or exceeds "max" for "Data Backup Servers" or "Data Backup Workstations" (depending on OS of agent that fails to install)


  • purchase more licenses or uninstall Data Backup from any agents where it is no longer needed
