How to setup KES (AVG9.0) on Exchange Server

Recommended KES 9.0 Exchange setup and installation.

1. Create a separate profile for machines where Exchange exist:

Email Scanner settings

- Disable (Uncheck the Email Scanner option. This is for workstations only)

Exchange settings:

- AVG for Exchange Server – enable (check)

- Mail Certification – Optional

- enable (check)

- Run scans in background

- Scan Proactively

- Scan RTF Files

Exclude Dirs

If MS Exchange 2000/2003:

M:\ (for MS Exchange 2000 only)

C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Mailroot

C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\CONNDATA

C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA

C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MTADATA

C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\SCHEMA

If MS Exchange 2007/2010:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Mailbox

C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\TransportRoles\Logs

2. Go to the Security>Install/Remove page and open the Options dialog. Do the following:

 

a.Uncheck the following; they are recommended only for client/workstations machines only:

- Email Scanner

- Link Scanner

- Web Shield

- Identity Protection

- AVG Firewall

b. Save. Close Options dialog and reopen to verify the above are unchecked

 

3. Install KES to the Exchange machine using above profile

 

Exception:

If you have AVG 8.5 installed on an exchange machine and wish to upgrade to AVG 9; you will have to do the following:

1. Completely remove AVG 8.5 and all related files:

- uninstall AVG from the Kaseya UI for the Exchange machine

2. if AVG 8.5 was installed previously with the avg 8.5 Exchange Plugin installed; its needs to be remove via add/remove programs on the exchange machine.

3. Completely remove AVG and all related files:

Now please delete these directories:

C:\Program files\Grisoft

C:\Documents and settings\all users\application data\grisoft

C:\Documents and settings\all users\application data\avgX

C:\Documents and settings\\application data\avgX

- Also delete these files:

C:\Windows\system32\drivers\avg

C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ any avg* named file

C:\AVG4ES2K

3. Restart computer

4. Create an exchange profile. See above

5. Reinstall KES using the exchange profile

 

How to setup KES (AVG9.0) on NON Exchange Server

Recommended KES 9.0 non Exchange server.

1. Create a separate profile for machines where for NON Exchange machines. The 
below settings are for workstations only:

Uncheck ‘Email Scanner’

Uncheck all Exchange Settings

All other profile settings are options users need to choose.

2. Go to the Security>Install/Remove page and open the Options dialog. Do the following:

a.Uncheck the following; they are recommended only for client/workstations machines only:

- Email Scanner

- Link Scanner

- Web Shield

- Identity Protection

- AVG Firewall

b. Save. Close Options dialog and reopen to verify the above are unchecked

3. Install KES to the NON Exchange machine using above profile


How to setup KES (AVG9.0) on Kaseya Server

1. Create a separate profile for Kaseya Server:

Email Scanner settings

- Disable (Uncheck the Email Scanner option. This is for workstations only)

Exchange settings:

- disable all settings

Exclude Dirs

\Kaseya

If SQL exist on the same box as Kaseya:

\SQL

\Program Files\SQL

2. Go to the Security>Install/Remove page and open the Options dialog. Do the following:

a.Uncheck the following; they are recommended only for client/workstations machines only:

- Email Scanner

- Link Scanner

- Web Shield

- Identity Protection

- AVG Firewall

b. Save. Close Options dialog and reopen to verify the above are unchecked

3. Install KES to Kaseya Server using above profile
