Can I use Firefox for remote control?

KB#:  KKB000499

QUESTION:

When initiating Remote Control session from a Firefox browser, the following error message is displayed:"ActiveX control kaxRemote.dll failed to load!

Every time I try to connect, it asks to download it the RC viewer.

ANSWER

The above is correct for the Remote Control > Control Machine function.

However, in version 6.01 and above, you can use Live Connect (KLC) to access a machine remotely using Firefox.. Simply click on the agent icon next to the computer name anywhere in the VSA. This will prompt you to install a Firefox plugin:

Once in KLC, click on Desktop Access and Connect. This will prompt you to install the vncviewer java applet, and a few moments later, you will be able to connect to the machine within the Firefox web browser:

Please note the plug-in and the vncviewer only require to be installed once.
