How Does Downtime Monitoring Work?

Downtime monitoring helps track the lack of metrics retrieved from a cloud resource. This policy is designed to watch for resources that are inactive. It may or may not catch VMs that are "down" or "unresponsive", as even downed VMs can continue to product and send metrics.

This is the way it works:

  1. You set up a new Downtime Monitoring policy
  2. Select your customers/projects, resource and set a time interval. The minimum allowed time is 10 minutes.
  3. Save the policy.

Going forward, you will receive alerts for selected resources if there is no metrics received for set time interval.

Exclusions: stopped and terminated VMs.
